If there’s one piece of equipment I value most, it’s goggles. These "Gills" are made by Maniak Vision Gear, a new company offering alternative solutions to the stagnant goggle world. I found the Gills to be very accommodating to my face…great fit…panoramic view… low profile design!
These bad boys sport 21 vents for maximum air movement, a replaceable double lens (the inner lens has an anti-fog coating), and the best part…the easy on/off buckle in the back. Your color choices range from blk/wht/gray/burg. The double lenses are 100% UV protection and come in either a gold mirror coated outer lens with a mango orange inner lens OR a silver mirror coated outer lens with a clear inner lens.

Life Link
Life Link Boundary Pack
This year, we are glad to host the Life Link Boundary Pack. Life Link has been designing and producing the highest quality products for winter backcountry use since 1978. The Boundary Pack is no exception as we tested it at Alpine Meadows ski resort for opening day. With its 2-compartment capacity to hold 700cu. in, we found the Boundary to be an excellent day pack, easily carrying items such as lunch, a couple extra layers of clothing, a camera, and a snow shovel.
The main reason I particularly liked this pack is because of it's narrow, low profile. It is relatively thin, with adjustable waist and chest straps. Virtually obstruction free, as the Boundary fits snug to your back and doesn't flail around in the air. This is key.
The Boundary also comes with adjustable diagonal straps for both alpine and telemark skis, as well as snowboards or snowshoes. This pack is comfortable, very durable, and fits like a glove. Thumbs up.
Colors: red/blk, purp/blk, grn/blk, and blk/blk.
Now, this is the tool. The Life-Link Series III Shovel features a lightweight Lexan blade and telescoping/detachable handle, with locking detents. We especially like the telescoping handle. Great for leverage and easy to store...inside or outside the Boundary Pack (listed above).
The Levan blade comes with a lifetime warranty. This shovel is perfect for building jumps, snowcaves, getting the car unstuck, and rescuing your avalanche-buried friends. Yes, this all-purpose, lightweight tool is definately a must have for those outdoor enthusiasts...or even to have in your car or garage just in case.

Life Link Variant 3 Pole Another fine product from Life-Link is the Variant 3 Pole. Here is a tri-sectional ski/treking pole designed for any backcountry touring and all season hiking excursion. This 3 shaft pole collapses down to a mere 26" packing length, allowing an adjustment range of 42"-58".
Although this is not a probe pole, the real magic here is for Snowboarders. Out here in the Sierras, there are several resorts with some incredible terrain. Only problem is you have to traverse way out to get to some of these places. We tested the Variant 3 with this in mind. Extending the pole with gloves on is easy. You will be amazed how much momentum you retain using this pole on a traverse. We used the Boundary Pack once again to house the pole. Plus, if you're a snowboarder you can split the cost of a pair with a friend, since a snowboarder only needs one.
